What is HomeOfficeIQ?
HomeOfficeIQ is a included in our Pro Connect plan and will be available for Smart Connect subscribers in the Fall of 2026. It gives your home router the ability to use a cellular device (like your mobile phone or 5G hotspot) as a backup connection if there is a fiber outage. When your primary internet experiences an interruption, HomeOfficeIQ instantly switches your selected devices over to a paired cellular hotspot or mobile device, so critical activities don't skip a beat. You decide which devices or networks are most important to your household, and HomeOfficeIQ handles the rest.
Think of it as a generator for your internet. Most days you won't think about it, but the day you need it you'll be very glad it's there.
How HomeOfficeIQ Keeps You Connected
HomeOfficeIQ works hand-in-hand with your GigaSpire Wi-Fi system and the Gibson Connect Smart Home app. You pair a cellular hotspot or compatible cellular device to your home network, then use the app to choose which Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs) or specific devices should stay online during an outage. When your main internet drops, HomeOfficeIQ takes over instantly. When service is restored, it switches back automatically. The whole thing happens quietly in the background. The only thing you'll notice is that your video call didn't drop, your security camera kept recording, and your connection kept going.
It's important to remember that there is a balance here. While HomeOfficeIQ can provide a great backup connection to keep you online cellular data is often limited. Prioritizing your most important devices is key to avoiding unexpected cellular bills or using up all your cellular data in a short period of time.
